Marcantel Crouch LeBlanc Creates New Packaging Family
for The Original Ya-Hoo! Baking Co.

Dallas, TX (March, 2007) — Marcantel Crouch LeBlanc has created a family of specialty wholesale packaging for The Original Ya-Hoo! Baking Co., the Texas-based gourmet gift and wholesale bakery. MCL has been working with TOYBC since 2000, when it developed a revitalized identity for the fifty-year old brand.

Currently available online and direct, the new design is part of a brand extension focused on the gift basket resale market. The aim was to create a family of packaging that would allow gift basket packers to incorporate the Ya-Hoo! product into their basket designs. The family features four lines: miniature Cordial Cakes™, full-sized Cordial Cakes, teacake singles, and teacakes and brunch breads in cans.

The brand extension utilizes a simplified version of the Ya-Hoo! Baking Co.’s logo, featuring a simplified type treatment used in conjunction with the company’s signature cowboy graphic. Designer Richard LeBlanc said, “While the company’s standard logo works well at the retail and gift catalog levels, it did not feel sophisticated enough for this market.”

“Color was the key,” said Ya-Hoo! Baking President Geoff Crowley. “Basket packers want to build a color theme in their baskets and we wanted to be able to answer that need.” The packaging features strong blocks of black, set against rich jewel tone colors. Additionally, the packaging incorporates a metallic platinum ink that adds what LeBlanc refers to as “character and cohesion.”

MCL continues to work with The Original Ya-Hoo! Baking Co. on a variety of design programs for its gift catalog and its associated Web site, www.yahoocake.com.
